Urban access and the great outdoors meet at this wildlife-filled Texas Metroplex park.

The Appeal
This reservoir in a Dallas suburb hosts fishing for crappie, largemouth bass and catfish; boating, jet skiing, waterskiing and swimming. Also found here is the premier north Texas off-road bike trail, an amazing list of birds, including the beautiful Painted Bunting, and one of the largest demonstration composting centers around.
Facts
A less expensive base for exploring the greater Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex would be hard to find. This park features mostly wooded campsites with a shade shelter over some of the picnic tables. Each site has water, electricity, a fire-ring, a lantern pole and a picnic table. All campsites are within walking distance of restrooms with hot showers.
