Cozy little spot downtown
by tonystreet
I work close by and love going to this place. They have free Hor d ourves for happy hour. Its the best and most comfortable place to have a cocktail downtown that i can think of.
- Pros: downtown pubby feel
- Cons: havent found one yet
nice attractive bar
by robinedghill
the bar was nicely located. The sandwiches were microwaved and not at all appealing. There was not enough meat to fill the large bread. I was disappointed that it was rated the best sandwich in dallas 2008. It may have won since this is the only restaurant in dallas where smoking is allowed. go there for the bar and not the food.
Response from this business

We are very sorry you didn't enjoy your sandwich. We are actually known internationally for our chicken salad snadwich and its not at all uncommon to have people come in from out of town or overseas and tell us they heard from another traveler bout the soups and sandwiches while waiting on their flight to Dallas. The large bread you refer is a Honey Wheat Roll and most people really like it. There are several choices of breads and they are listed on the menu. None of the "sandwiches" are microwaved. Meats for the hot sandwiches are heated in a convection oven or microwave depending on the meat, but not the whole sandwich.
Another point is we are a bar and not a restaurant. We don't have a kitchen. So to be voted best sandwich in Dallas is quite a feat and has nothing to do with being smoking or non-smoking.
Again, we are sorry you didn't enjoy your sandwich, but we invite you back. Email us at our website and we would be glad to provide you with an incentive to try us again.
What a blast!

I live Downtown and have MANY choices on places to go and we choose the West End Pub. We choose it because everybody REALLY does know your name, there hasn't been a time when we have gone in that the owner or waitress hasn't come up as soon as we walk in and say hi. It's like being a movie star :) I love going to a place that takes such pride in customer service. They have a fantastic happy hour and the drinks are not only a great price, but a great drink if you know what I mean. My boyfriend is a margarita pro and I am pleased to say that he chooses the west End Pub over the MANY mexican restaurant choices we have for a margarita in Downtown. They also have a FREE buffett for happy hour with food that we BOTH like. I really have NOTHING bad to say about this place. Try the couch by the window if there is a open seat, it's also a great place to people watch. They have a HUGE seating area that you don't see in this picture so go with 20 of your best friends, they can accomodate you in a heartbeat! Yeah West end pub! We LOVE YOU GUYS!
- Pros: THE BEST Place in Downtown AND the West end!
- Cons: none! not a one!
Friendliest Bar and Best Margarita's and Martini's
by pubcrawler75202
The West End Pub is my favorite bar to hang out in after work. I felt this way the first time I went to the pub, right after I moved to Dallas. I went in not knowing anyone and soon found out the people at the Pub don't let you be alone for long. The bartender and the "regulars" at the bar include everyone at the bar in their conversations and make it point to learn your name, where your from and when you will back (the bartenders even remember what you drink). It is just that friendly. On top of being friendly, their margaritas and martini's are the best. The bartender says the margarita's are made from scratch, no premade mix here. They even fresh squeeze the lime juice. Then there are the martini's...they are huge and in a glass that is always cold. Try the PUBTINI...it's one of my favorites. If you have a group of people just wanting to kick back, they have "living rooms" with big. comfy leather couches and chairs. Its a great place to meet up with your friends and hang out.
- Pros: Drink sizes are big; People and staff are very friendly; Comfortable and Unpretentious
- Cons: Can get loud at times

In Short
Dwarfed by the brick canyon of the southern tip of West End, the pub door opens onto a photo-lined foyer. The dark wooden floor, honey-oak bar, etched glass and comfortable chairs convey authenticity while the bartender greets newcomers as warmly as he does the most welcome regular. Meat for sandwiches is sliced fresh daily for popular sandwiches like house-specialty chicken salad, French dip roast beef and the pub stack (corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese).
Everyone's bar

I stumbled across this establishment years ago and immediately enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. As a scotch drinker, I found the selection to be impressive and the staff very knowledgeable (I wonder how they got so experienced?). But, the great thing about this pub is that's only one of its features. Whether your a sports fan (free shuttle to the Stars/Mavs games at the AAC) or a music fan (same free shuttle for music and other shows) and live music of a great variety on weekends; a smoker (imported cigar selections) or a non-smoker (electrostatic smoke control devices throughout the Pub); or just like a comfortable atmosphere for eating (the Pub fare is simple but well-prepared), reading, visiting, or lounging (great! leather sofas and chairs in "the living room"), this place seems to fit the bill. Go! Enjoy!
- Pros: Great Scotches
- Cons: It can get loud
My favorite downtown spot for years.

This is the best pub in Dallas.
Great atmosphere, great food, a competent and friendly wait-staff, and they pour a quality drink for a fair price.
Whether you're dropping by at happy hour for a beer and a sandwich, or taking in the evening entertainment on the weekends, it is a comfortable place to hang out. It is a must see for visitors to
Dallas, and a great place to become a regular.
Great Neighborhood Bar
by Ziggy12togo
This is a very friendly neighborhood bar. I started going for the games (Both Stars and Mavericks) because they have a great shuttle bus to the games. The shuttle also goes to concerts at the American Airlines Center. They have great drinks, a friendly crowd and a nice happy hour buffet. The staff is friendly helpful and entertaining. I have made a great many friends at the West End Pub. It also as a great view of downtown Dallas out of its large windows.
- Pros: Great drinks, great shuttle to the games, friendly patrons and staff
- Cons: Smoking bar (but not too smoky)
Great Neighborhood Pub!
by BoDukes
We have been going to the Pub for a long time...fifteen years! We keep coming back because the staff is fast, fun and funny. We always meet interesting people and love to pass the time making new friends. The "regulars" are engaging, too. The Pub has single malts and cigars. Great combination! When we go to an event at the AAC, we always use the Pub's free shuttle. So easy to get there and back. Great perk!
