Yes the milkshakes were good, but we ended up paying $10 for a milkshake and a sandwich. The sandwich was just two pieces of wonderbread with like a slice of butterball round turkey, the kind you make for a 2 year old and it cost $4!!!! Unless you want to pay for the scenery, which is not that great either, you're better off going to potbelly's which has better icecream and more food for cheaper prices.

The HP Pharmacy is fabulous. The staff is friendly and the food is GREAT!!!!! As far as all the negative remarks on this place, people need to think about it. How many places do you get to see them prepare everything right in front of you? You have no idea what most places do to your food. I think they do a great job of cleaning and preparing food. Yes, they are very busy sometimes but for the most part you can be in and out in under a 1/2 hour which can't be done many places.

  • Pros: Great Food, Fun Atmosphere, Kid Friendly
  • Cons: Not Enough Parking

I joined Citysearch just to let me people know to stay away from this place. It was rated high for good breakfast. We sat down and didn't even get acknowledged for 15 minutes. Not even a glass of water, can you wait a bit, nothing. It wasn't even that busy. We got up and left.

Just to give you an idea that this is not just everyday gripe, we were dressed very nice for church, and pleasant when we walked in....and nothing. I think other people around us were also getting annoyed at the lack of service there. Some guy was standing there sighing and waiting at the register for 5 minutes before the lady came along and accepted the bill. Then she walked right by us without a single word.

  • Cons: This tops my worst service in any place that I've visited.

Read about this place in Paula Deen's Magazine so thought it had to be good. Wrong!! Maybe her picture crew got better food or more of it, but for the high prices and poor amount of food given, I would not recommend this place. If you live close by and want to look, that is fine, but with the price of gas just buy Paula's magazine and you can look at the pictures at a lot lower cost. My other complaint was that my counter space was not very clean. The girl gave it a quick swipe....not good enough. Still had some sticky stuff and needed to grab her attention for another good wipe-down. Be your own judge.

  • Pros: Old Timey Look of Pharmacy/Fountain Bar
  • Cons: Expensive Food....Stingy With Quanity

We were enjoying our sandwiches and milkshakes at the counter last saturday when we witnessed something that was downright baffling. You would think it would be pretty hard to make a sandwhich with 1 slice of meat in an unsanitary way but they succeded.

We watched as the girl behind the counter went from cleaning dishes in the sink with plastic sanitary gloves on to directly grabing another customers sandwich right off the grill and cutting it touching the food with the same gloves.

Only after doing this did she discard the gloves that were soaking wet in dirty dish water in the trash.

Me and my girlfriend couldn't believe what we just saw. We didn't say anything but should have, we were just so shocked.

Thats the first and last time we stop in there for an overpriced sandwich which consisted of 1 slice of turkey and cheese on regular white bread.

  • Cons: Food handling procedures

I LOVE their chili, it actually has ranch style beans.. soooo good.... As to their breakfast, I hear that beginning in February they will actually serve breakfast on Sunday's, which should be good. Friendly wait staff and charming atmosphere. A+

  • Pros: Great service!!!! Kid friendly :)

No breakfast on Sunday. The only restaurant in Dallas that doesn't serve Sunday Brunch. While I was there, 3 other couples came in and wanted breakfast. Sorry. They'd be happy to make you some toast or get you a bowl of cold cereal. Super.

The chili is that stuff from a can. It was luke-warm and tasted like dog food. Bleh. I think the vegetable-beef-barley soup is Campbell's from a can also.

I guess some folks just prefer chains and cookie cutter experiences. Me, I like this little spot simply because there's nothing like it anywhere in Dallas. It's refreshing. How many pharmacies do you know that have a soda fountain? So the menu is pretty basic, it still isn't too hard on the wallet. And, this is a great place to take kids, too.

In Short
This corner store was founded in 1912, and little has changes since, except perhaps the products. Patrons sit at the old fashioned soda fountian-like counter or one of the few tables in the front for eating. Customers looking for toiletries or other products can buy them up front. The very affordable menu caters to classic cravings. Breakfast options include eggs, muffins, waffles, bacon and sausages. Sandwiches, soups and salads round out the lunch choices.

A little slice of Dallas history, along with ice cream and a pimento cheese sandwich. Nice part of town, too!
