Scott + Cooner has a nice showroom over in the Design District and they carry a lot of good furniture lines. The salespeople were much less snobby than I had anticipated (!) but I recommend going on Saturdays when they are much less busy; I believe that during the week they cater to designers and architects, so Saturdays are a good time for "regular folk" to visit. My husband and I, who had never bought anything more expensive than IKEA for ourselves, found a perfect sofa there and were really excited to order it. Unfortunately, partly due to a lack of follow-through on Scott + Cooner's part, the sofa ended up being more than two months late. When it finally arrived at the delivery company on a Monday, I got a notification from S+C to that effect, to which I responded. By Thursday I still hadn't heard anything else about delivery, so I called the delivery company directly. They were very helpful, arranged a delivery time, and said they would get a release from S + C in order to proceed with the delivery. Not five minutes later I received an e-mail from our S + C salesperson saying, "The delivery company has your information, feel free to go ahead and contact them" -- as if I he didn't know that I had just contacted them! -- trying to cover up his lack of follow-through. I am really disappointed in the lack of service we received from Scott + Cooner. Next time I would probably order from EuropeByNet or some similar company and expect cheaper prices for the same lack of service.
