overprices experienced

by pieces2awhole

I was so excited when my fiance had surprised me with a full day at the Red Door Spa. It was for Valentine's and a very genorous gift.

The facial was very good. I got the hot stone massage but didn't care for it. The therapist was gently moving the stones around...not sure where the 'massage' came into play. My mani and pedi could've been done better by my 10 yr old neice. The polish on my hands were poorly put on with uneven streaks, she didn't shape my nails or trim my cuticles. All she really did was put the olive oil scrub on. Similar situation with my pedi, cept the polish looked wonderful.

I wished my fiance would've spent the money on jewlery or something...it's very unfortunate because we would've loved to go back had the service been even average.

I have to at least give a rating of one star but if it were possible there wouldn't even be that one!

  • Pros: Good Facial
  • Cons: Staff, poor mani/pedi, poor customer service

Average spa experience

by Purplejonquil

My spa day was rather enjoyable, but I'd done a 2-hour boot camp the day before, so the masseuse totally hurt me! :( It was a good hurt sometimes, and I even told her about my previous excursions, but she seemed determined to squash out those toxins from my back and shoulders. Sometimes it was quite uncomfortable, but I do feel tons better faster than I would have without the massage. My facial was okay...the lady claimed that Red Door doesn't allow the use of an extractor for white/blackheads, but somehow I have a shallow scab on my nose where she'd been working...hmmm...I don't think that was done with a fingernail!! But my face did feel really good and polished afterward--I was glowing. :) My nail artist was professional and efficient--my nails look excellent, and she even gave me a few pointers on how to prolong the shine. My day was fun, and I loved the warmed massage tables and warm towels. I didn't like how thin the walls were, though--the Cheesecake Factory is right next to the spa, and I could hear people cheering/chattering and I guess someone was celebrating a birthday, because I heard people singing, too. It was rather distracting at times. But overall, I did like being pampered. On one note, my package was supposed to feature the Signature Facial with Prevage, but evidently I didn't need that product since my aesthetician didn't use any of that line on me; however, I believe I was charged that price. All in all, it was an average experience but for a "highly recommended"-level price.

  • Pros: Ambience, parking, service
  • Cons: Thin walls, high prices

worst experience ever

by cm454

from the moment I walked in, I was rushed to get my hair color/cut and styled. I had an apointment to also get a mani and pedi, but at the end I was only given a choice of the two, I decided not to do neither. When I walked out into the light, I still had hair dye all over my neck, forehead, and ears. I called to complain and talk to a manager, I left a concerned message with the front desk - phone call was never returned. I called their corporate office and all I got was a appology from a no name secretary. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!

best overall spa and salon- thave Sunday hair appointments!!!!!!!

by grasshopper2

I was so pleased to find out that they do hair services on Sunday's- most hair salons are closed on Sunday. I received a massage from the most healing male therapist i HAVE EVER met! He gave me the best deep tissue massage ever, I have horrible neck, shoulder, tension and TMJ, he gave me some stretches to do for the TMJ and I felt so much better the next day, really felt that his energy and massage technique helped me with my pain, very healing. My haircut was so artistic, and my color was amazing---- best day ever, can't wait to go back!!

  • Pros: open on Sunday's!!! Extremely trained and professional staff also open until 9pm

My first experience here was at the hair salon. I was so pleased I had to come on here and write about it. Anyone who is not pleased with this red door has a negative attitude about life altogether. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I had a major hair correction on my color and cut. My colorist assured me she would help me in anyway she could to make me feel my best, and she did. I felt beautiful! And my stylist gave me the perfect finish to my hair. I felt so good about myself I called my girlfriend and we went to happy hour. They definitley know what they are doing there. VERY WELL TRAINED!!!!!!! I will go here for my next hair service, and so is my girlfriend, hey afterwards we are going to go to blue mesa for happy hour. Man it s fun being a girl. Thanks Red Door!!

  • Pros: very trained and willing staff, beautiful atomosphere
  • Cons: none!!!!! Love the place

Worst SPA experience

by klbkw

I was excited when I received a gift certificate for a day @ the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon. I gathered a couple of my friends and we decided to have a girls day out at the SPA. When I tried to schedule our appointments for four girls about 2 weeks in advance, they told me that each girl needed to do their own scheduling. The receptionist assured me that as long as my friends referenced my name when scheduling, they will arrange the time slots so we can do the pedicures/manicures together. Since my package included a facial and massage, I went ahead and booked the first appointment of the day and go in for a head start prior to the nail services.

When I arrived on our day of service, the receptionist told me that I have my nails appointment first, followed by facial and massage! This was completely different than what they told me 2 weeks ago. They weren't wlling to change the scheduling. After 10 mins of getting nowhere, I decided not waste time arguing with her and just get my service the way THEY scheduled it.

I was escorted to the changing/waiting area. I was asked to sit in the waiting area for the nail tech and the receptionist told me I didn't need to change first.. About 5 min later, another lady came and told me I needed to change first. At this point, I was extremely frustrated.

After I got my nails done (mani/pedi), I was escorted to the waiting area for the facial tech. Well, my nails were still wet when she asked me to de-robe. She then slide these hand covers over my nails. Needless to say, my manicure was ruined!

Massage was weak. I asked for firm pressure and all I got was a gentle rub.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Front desk receptionists are rude and not helpful. Place was not at all nice. If you are willing to fork out $$$, don't waste it here. My other 3 friends weren't pleased either.

Well, my nail tech was friendly and that was about all I enjoyed from the SPA.

  • Pros: Can't think of any
  • Cons: Customer service, constant upsale of products/services

Very friendly and chic atmosphere

by lindsaylovely

I had a great experience at this salon. I was able to make an appointment only a couple hours prior to my haircut. My stylist was very skilled. I told her exactly what I wanted and she gave me what I had asked for. I am so pleased with my haircut!

Too much $$ for terrible atmosphere

by henriettapusykat

This spa is totally gross! I could hear all the noises from the surrounding restaurants and the toilets constant flushing during my service. I can?t understand why the prices are so high. Nothing feels clean. There are stains on the carpet, stains on the sheets (massage), and stains on the blankets... It?s just nasty. No hot water for pedicures. The poor nail techs have to carry bowels for water from the sink in the back to fill up the pedicure tubs. All of my service techs were great- I loved my hair cut, massage, facial, manicure & pedicure. Checking out was some what unpleasent- seemed like it was very stressful that day. Management seemed incompetent when interacting with the client ahead of me in line and also with the employees. Elizabeth Arden needs to shape up. I thought this spa was supposed to be top notch but I think I will go some where that is newer and cleaner next time. There are so many new spas in this area that are pristine and better priced.

  • Pros: Decent services & Polite employees
  • Cons: Parking, Unclean, Loud, & too expensive

The Worst Customer Service

by legacy1114

The people who work here are extremely rude and pretentious. The end result is less than mediocre.

Spend your money somewhere else!

People behind the famous red door have treatments down to a science, and a national reputation to show for it.

In Short
The place has clean lines and modern styling, giving it a slightly clinical feel. Employees are brisk and professional with both well-heeled regulars and excited gift-certificate redeemers. In addition to a full-service hair salon, there are dozens of spa services like facials, massage and manicure-pedicures. Packages and a la carte services include warm cream pedicures, microdermabrasion, pregnancy massage, seaweed wrap, hot desert-stone massage and the signature Ardenia facial.
