Great Food and Service
by megasue
This is a favorite restaurant of mine because everyone there is very friendly, the food is great, and I like the Deep Ellum location. Awesome specials, so try those for sure. Nice wine list with informed servers as well. I like the low lighting and overall decor. Definitely worth trying if you haven't yet!!!!
- Pros: Ambience, close to Reno's Chop Shop Saloon and Deep Ellum entertainment
Seafood lovers rejoice at this cozy and popular Deep Ellum hideaway.

The Scene
SMU students, musicians and folks who just like a good crustacean pack this place. Daddy Jack's is a dark, inviting little place; in one room, brown paper tops black tablecloths under a black ceiling next to a black bar. In another, huge vintage posters decorate brick walls. Netting walls off a tiny sitting area with red benches--very opium lounge.
The Food
Stellar seafood is the main draw here. A velvety lobster bisque and a perfect clam chowder taste fresh from New England. A superb wood-grill salad hosts bits of artichokes, bacon, and blue cheese. Crabmeat-stuffed Gulf shrimp are actually five succulent shrimp topped with a light, sweet kin to a hush puppy. "Lobster Insanity" delivers a whole cull that's not for the squeamish or inept. Strawberry-rhubarb pie and blueberry pie are both worth the trip.
