Peace Love and BBQ
by philobeddoe
I've been eating at Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse for twenty years and I cannot get enough. I absolutely love a nice place of brisket, preferably from the business end, with links, fries and Sonny's signature sauce.
The original Sonny's is top notch, authentic, professional BBQ made the good old fashioned way.
Any time of day, Sonny Bryan's hits the spot.
- Pros: It's all good
- Cons: There's no bad
Not as good as the reviews that I saw...
by Russeljay
Since my wife and I moved from Oklahoma to texas we have been in search of a good barbeque. We tried a Sonny Bryans on the Fort Worth side of town because of some reviews that we read. I must say that we were pretty disappointed. The service was good, the prices were okay. The food was just very mediocre at best. In Oklahoma there is this place called the Rib Cribb which is the best ever so we do have pretty high expectations. It seems like each place we have tried in Texas doesn't seem to be able to live up to what we were used to in Oklahoma. We thought this to be strange considering all I hear about Texas barbeque. At this point we are still searching.
try the Frito Pie
by dbingo
tenderly chopped -bq and beans topped with cheese. depending on location, extras include: chives & sour cream. pile the Fritos on top, pour some -bq sauce over 'em and get on it.
LSD for the 40-something.
- Pros: Frito Pie
- Cons: hard wooden booths
Best barbecue of the planet
by josephdickens
This is by far the best barbecue place you will ever find. You can easly notice the meat is the finnest you can get in terms of barbecue. Their sauce is great, plus its really convenient and nice.
DAllas' BEST BBQ!!!
by cheers2norm
My Dad started taking me to the orifinal Sonny Bryan's over 30 years ago and I still think it is the best in the city! Their Brisket is by far the best - always very flavorful and juicy. They may have lost a bit of the ambience in tbheir expansion, but the BBQ is ultimately what made them and it still ROCKS!!!
- Pros: Best brisket & BBQ sauce
- Cons: pretty boring atmosphere
Best Mexican food in town.
by grannyhoff
The food was excellent. The prices were good and the waitstaff were very friendly. I particularly liked the BBQ Pork Ribs & Onion Rings.
- Pros: Servings are large
- Cons: The decor could be improved.
Boo!

I hated the BBQ so much that I had to throw it out.. I'm not from Tx and I was really excited to try this place out after reading a couple of reviews, and needless to say, I was pretty dissappointed.
- Pros: .
- Cons: .
I just don't get it
by dave_perryman
The downtown location is mediocre at best. The one on Inwood is a roadside dumpster of a building that is fly and creepy crawler inhabited. Good Lord, this is Texas and you want to hold this up as the best? There are too many better spots to eat BBQ within a two-square mile radius for this eye-sore on blacktop to be honored. If you must, get it to-go, but you have been warned. This only goes to prove that a sentimental favorite is hard to rate rationally for a lot of people. My guess is that good BBQ houses just roll their eyes at the collective ignorance in this choice.
- Cons: Ambience? Really?
Warning for tea drinkers
by audreykelly
The BBQ is OK. The Catering end of it kinda scares me. Their tea urns are kept uncovered in the open kitchen and I discovered a white slimy film in the bottom of the urn, I told the Catering director to have them cleaned out with bleach and to monitor them on a daily basis, because tea can carry a bacteria. He said he wasnt aware that tea can carry a bacteria. He says Ah! dont worry about it, the water that goes in them gets pretty hot.
So much for trying to loook out for the Public.
Don't understand the hoopla - just OK

Mediocre to OK BBQ at best. The meat quality is good but the sauce is just so NOT.
