Best Customer Experience I've Had in LONG Time!
by stephanielane26 at Citysearch
Alright, a few weeks ago my brother mentioned that he thought my transmission was slipping. After 2 weeks of research and asking for people's recommendations on where to take may car, I landed at Trowell and Turner. These folks are hands down the most kind, courteous, treat-you-like family people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. He was honest about my car problem, and even went so far as to do a little extra research to let me know that my car was still under warranty (even when the dealer I bought it form told me it wasn't). He told me it would be in my best interest to take it to the dealer where my warranty would cover the costs! My dad used to own a service business in San Antonio, and this reminds me of the way he ran things - good people helping good people.
Terry, you are a gem and I will recommend you and your sweet receptionist to all I know!
Honest, Accurate, Helpful, Courteous, and again... Honest

I like to work on my own cars, but I can't fix everything, so occaisionally I have to go to a mechanic for help. There is only one mechanic that I have come to trust to do the job right, and that's Trowell & Turner. Heck, I live in Oklahoma City but I'll still drive down to Dallas (car permitting) if I need a repair. I'd rather spend the money in gas once and have the peace-of-mind knowing that I will get the problem fixed right, then gamble on a mechanic here and end up out for the costs of multiple repair sessions
Auto-mechanics normally have a bad reputation, like lawyers, but these guys broke that mold. When I lived in Dallas, I sent everybody I knew to T&T and I never heard anything but praise. They are exceptionally friendly and best of all, they call you with their diagnosis and an estimate before they do any work. They let you know your options before you're stuck with the bill. AND, they'll even chauffer you to and from work while your car's being worked on. I just can't say enough good things about them.
I'll leave the review with this last note. I am an engineer, and a perfectionist. I have extremely high standards when it comes to making things work, but not just making them functional, making things work the correct way that was intended. If something can't be done right, I just won't do it. With that in mind, I give these guys a 100% positive score and recommend them to everybody. Give them a try and you will never go anywhere else again.
- Pros: They know how to find the real problems, not just symptoms
- Cons: they're not free (hey, I had to put something in the blank)
Best auto repair shop in Dallas!
by vglass at Citysearch
Recently while on vacation in Arkansas my vehicle broke down (a nightmare). I had it towed to a Crain dealership in Little Rock and after running diagnostics and handing me a bill for $715 they gave me two options, have the engine replaced or purchase a new one. I guess they thought they had me!!! My SUV had 90K miles on, come on guys!!!! Instead I contacted Terry Trowell and we had it towed to Trowell & Turner Automotive in Dallas. Terry & his team played detective (and played it well) and discovered the real culprit was my battery and a crank sensor. My vehicle is operating better than ever !!!! I would HIGHLY recommend Trowell & Turner Automotive for your automotive repair needs. Way to go Terry & his team and thank you very much!!!
- Pros: Customer Service, Trustworthy, Professional, Timely, Location,
- Cons: none
Customer for LIFE!
by prsuta98 at Citysearch
Overall I was very impressed with T&T. Had I not read the reviews on this website, I probably would not have stopped by there due to the location. That being said, I was very happy that I did. I came into the shop looking to have 3 items completed. I imagined it would take 2 to 3 days to complete it all, but they were able to knock it out in one day.
Terry was great. He called a few times to give me the progress, and was never pushy or "sales-ey". Instead, he gave plenty of options, and always let the customer make an informed decision.
I'm sold on this shop now, and will be a customer for life!
- Pros: Service & Experience - Not Pushy
- Cons: Location - I could have driven by this place 100 times without considering a visit, until I read this site. Now I'm sold!
Best Service I Ever Got!

Trowell and Turner Automotive gives me great service every time I go in there. What I apperciate the most is they are completely honest, and their prices were the most fair, when I compared prices with other automotive shops in the metroplex. The get down to the problem and fix it! I've never gone out of the stop instatisfied! HIGHLY recomend Trowell and Turner Automotive.
Best Service Ever!

Mr. Trowell and his team went out of their way to help my family and I. He even went as far to drive my son back to school an hour and a half out of his way, when his car broke down in Dallas on his way back to school. I don't know any other automotive repair service that would do this out of the kindness of their hearts. On top of that he did everything to charge us the least possible amount he could knowing my son was paying for it. Thanks Trowell and Turner for all your help and kindness!
- Pros: Great to work with, very fair.
Scamsville don't go here!
by zlytle at Citysearch
Service is fast and friendly. The problem is (from my experience) they dont actually fix the problem. I had an electical short in my car. They never found the problem only blamed it on two seperate parts that broke due to the short. Two visits and $800 later my car was still broken. When they wanted to replace my spark plugs and wires for over $400 (something I did myself for $40 in 15 minutes) I knew they were scammers. What ever you do dont go here. Major rip off!
- Pros: They are fast
- Cons: They screw you

Fixed my truck in one day... really nice... really professional... really good. Would recommend them to anyone needing their vehicle repaired. I'd trust them with any of our vehicles! Thanks, Terry and Bill!
- Pros: All good!
Good mechanics are priceless!
by lizziebeth28 at Citysearch
When I started driving in 1980, my parents started directing me to T&T where they had been going for several years. I left for college but anytime I came back for breaks and needed work on the car, I would head on down to Harry Hines and Regal Row. When I returned to Dallas for good, I picked right back up with them. Up until 2002, I always had used cars (sorry, "pre-owned") that would need various degrees of work. Until their cousin opened his own shop a few years ago, I never wavered in where I would take would take my car. Good work, nice guys, totally trustworthy (a priceless quality in a mechanic for someone who despite having listed to NPR's Car Talk for nearly 20 years still doesn't feel comfy in the automotive world), does the job right the first time or on those rare occasions when it wasn't completely fixed would have me bring it right back in. I could count on them to do the work needed to fix or maintain the car without feeling like they were doing more than I really needed. I feel the same way about their cousin's shop, Trowell & Reece, and go there because of loyalty to their cousin. I've recommended both shops to countless people over the years. And I love that they would take me to work and pick me up in the afternoon. Big thumbs up for T&T!
- Pros: Trustworthy, good work, great customer service, felt like one of the family.
- Cons: Not in the greatest neighborhood (they won't leave cars out at night) but fine during the day.
