My daughter needed a dress but was not able to get to this store before they closed. I went in the store, during mid-week, near their closing time. I picked out a dress and explained I wanted to take it home, have my daughter and try it on when she came home that night. If it didn't fit, I would bring it back when they opened in the morning. There was certainly no prom event that Wednesday night for her to wear the dress. I got "Pre-Approval" from their manager on duty that night. She was clear that as long as I brought it back by the next morning, I would get a full refund. She said she would be there in the morning. My mistake: I trusted her and did not ask for her to write the "return exception" on my receipt. Sure enough, the dress didn't fit and I was at the store at their opening time. Guess what? "You're stuck with the dress. We won't take it back. Screw you. That manager isn't here. Look at your receipt -- It says NO RETURNS!", etc., etc., etc." I felt so cheated and abused. I can understand a no-return policy. However, I was specifically granted an exception but the manager and would have never bought the dress, knowing if I was to return it, it would be less than 12 hours later. I'm really amazed the owner is still in business. Apparently, he thrives on ripping off customers. He geniunely gets a kick out of it. Oh well.....Lesson learned. I know he's making a ton of money, which evidently is the ONLY important thing to him. But, I have pursuaded many people never to shop there. Trust me, there are other stores out there where you can buy a dress! Every dog has their day. By the way..... I'm convinced that the "postive" reviews below are written by this owner and staff. It is so obvious when most people are complaining about the rude and lying staff. Then, an "amazing" review appears about how the staff is the best, pleasant, etc. What a crock! BUYER BEWARE!!
Pros: The staff are rude and liars
Cons: The owner is a total a-hole.

This is my second trip to this store, the first time was in 06 our first trip was ok; a little crazy but ok. The second time was not so great. We were asked by one of the employees that helped us what prom we were going to. I asked why did she need to know that, she replied and I quote "it is our policy, not to sell the same dress to a girl going to the same event." I thought wow, how can they manage this with all the dress in the store and hundreds of girls at a time trying on dresses. When we got ready to check out, we were asked again, what prom are we going to, the person that checked us out looked on some paper she had and then said, "you're lucky, this dress has not been sold to any girl in your area!" Sounds good right?! Wrong, my daughter was very upset to see another girl at her prom with the exact same dress. So not only did we pay $399.00 for a dress that my daughter ended up not being happy with, the whole situation made her senior prom horrible. We called the store back trying to get some kind of answer to this. The lady told us, we sell the dress to whoever wants to buy it. It is not our concern that more than one girl has the same taste in clothes. What a difference in attitude. Do not go to this store. It became very clear, that they only want your money they are not concerned if something like this happens.

We went to Whatchamacallit knowing that this time of year can be crazy when looking for a prom dress. If you know that going in, you will always be successful at Whatchamacallit. They have a tremendous selection and superb service. You have to be patient. My daughter is almost 5’11” and thin so finding clothes that fit, much less formal dresses, is a challenge. Whatchamacallit is the first place we looked and found what she needed almost immediately. I will recommend Whatchamacallit to anyone that is looking for dresses. The staff and selection can’t be beat. Additionally, the owner is a fantastic supporter of the community.
Pros: Staff and Selection
Cons: None

I went into the store and was completely amazed at the selection. I saw a prom dress in a magazine that i wanted so i just went to the color and found my dress. I have referred several of my friends there and we have all bought our dresses here. It is a bit frustrating at first because of the craziness but its only crazy because of the season. The ladies were so helpful and they will help you find any style and are pretty accurate. If you tell them your price range and how you want your dress they are sure to find one that will suit you quite well. My friend had to buy 2 dresses and they found PERFECT ones for her. I They also do alterations and tuxedo rentals. My boyfriend rented his tux there and they have a wide selection to choose from and they're prices are very competitive. Their alterations were outstanding. I did have one issue with what they did but they fixed it without any hesitation and they did a spectacular job. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, just don't get frustrated and leave because I assure you, you will be missing out!
Pros: SO MANY DRESSES!!
Cons: Frustrating at first, but then you get used to it.

I had to order my dress through the store and i was told it would take up to two weeks maximum. Its been over a month and still no word. When I call to speak with someone about it, I'm put on hold, shuffled through different people and no one will simply answer me if my dress is in or not. They have horrible costumer service, once you have paid for a dress, they could care less about your frustrations. There are tons of better places to buy dresses, i wish i would have looked elsewhere!

We purchased a dress from the store that had a tear in the seam at the back. We were promised it would be fixed by the next week if we purchased that day. We liked the dress and felt it would be alright since it was on the seam, called back the next week - still wasn't ready. Waited another week and a half, no phone call, so we called and they said it was there ready to be picked up. My daughter drove up to the store, and we do not live close - over 35 miles one way - picked up the dress, and when she got to the car looked at the dress to be sure everything was good and NOTHING had been done to it. Took it back into the store, she was told it would be personally taken to the seamstress and mailed to us. I've called the store to speak to the manager (Sherri) and she has yet to let me know what happened or if we can have the dress by the end of this week so we can get accessories. We purchased the dress in advance so we wouldn't have to go through last minute hassles. I am very disappointed in their service and promises.
Pros: big selection
Cons: they do lie about dresses being new

Do they have a lot of dresses? Yes they do but ask yourself...Do you really want to buy a dress that is placed in racks that are SO CLOSE that the oils and dirt from people's skin brush off onto the "dress of your dreams". Not to mention that many of these dresses have actually been there for years! I know because I have 4 daughters and have found myself back at this location time after time and I have seen the same dresses over and over and have heard them say to people this dress is new this year. LIES. After my recent visit there I will NOT be going back. The management "Mr. D" is by far the rudest person I have met in quite some time. He screams and yells at his employees expecting them to help 6 to 8 people at the same time then curses them when someone walks out without buying from them. He also works his employees 10-12 hours with no breaks. My daughter fell in love with a dress there for $399. We went to TERRY COSTA's and bought the SAME dress for $287.00! The dress at Terry Costa's was in much better shape and you can actually walk down the isles and see what they have without wading through and stepping on dresses. It"s also annoying to pay this kind of money and have broken zippers and pulls in the material which cannot be fixed. If you have something altered here beware and check everything! There is no care in what these people do...they are only out to make a buck because the owner of the place stands guard expecting his employees to sell something to everyone who walks in...regardless of how it "really" looks on them. I remember a time way back when this was a nicer place to shop, but somewhere over the years Mr. D has became a bitter man who is only out to make money. To Mr. D I have to say What goes around comes around and if you continue to run your business this way you will be the loser in the end. I wish you guys the best in shopping but I seriously consider Terry Costa or Grapevine Mall over this place!
Pros: Dresses galore but they will HAVE to be fixed due to being abused.
Cons: It like a cattle drive to find a dress from the time you walk in and the guy yells over the mic to come wait on this person.

I called to find out if they had a particular dress in stock. They said they would call me back but never did. i called back to find ou if they had the dress and the sales person response was: We have too many dresses to look for just one. You need to come out here and search for yourself. I told her I had called another location and tey had said that they had the dress and she said "well it's because they don't have as many dresses as us" This store has the worst customer service. Will not shop there. I rather buy online!!!!

WOW! They have a serious selection! yeah the layout of the store is a little crazy but honestly, this girl loves to shop and dig for new finds! Without a doubt this boutique beats ALL the department stores selection wise and especially Forever 21 which I can't stand!! In my experience that stuff is cheap garbage that always falls apart after 2 washes - I figure why not spend more and get something UNIQUE. Hey Fashionistas, you get what you PAY for and Whatchamacallit has the GOODS!!! I was so shocked by all the cool awesome new brands I discovered. I bought several dresses and a cute prom dress by my FAV new find - a new line called Yoga Army. Wow what a great fit and just overall cool design work. Yoga Army gets 5 stars on my list. And the sales girl was really helpful and nice. And yes, this fashionista will be back soon for Dresses. PS - if you don't like this store go to Macys, Dillards, Forever 21 or whatever other junk store you please and leave the cool stuff to us and wear what everybody else is wearing which = bland and boring
Pros: A TON OF DRESSES
Cons: NOT ENOUGH TIME!!!
